From "The Caid Newsletter No. 1", September 1974:
On July 21, the Barony held its first anniversary of the Hunt for the Chalice of St. Gunther. The sacred chalice was found by Patrick of Innisfree. He fought gallantly in the lists, but in the last round was defeated by Lord Armand de Sevigny (then known as Armand de Sebastian de la Foret de Savigny). Armand was proclaimed the winner of the sacred chalice, and his lady Diana de Savigny very graciously awarded a beautiful broach for his superb fighting. A box lunch sale held, only this was different because the gentlemen of the Barony were the makers of said lunches. Even though the weather was hot & muggy, a good time was had by all.
The War we are planning with the Barony of Tir Ysgirth (in Atenveldt) is still in the works. We haven't heard if they are coming or not, but we would ask all Calafians to save this date in case they do show up and want to fight! (Communications between kingdoms is always so slow!)
Calafia is holding an Illumination & Calligraphy Contest during the summer months. It is hoped that this will encourage all Calafians to indulge in something other than their own accomplished interests. Get out of that rut & resurrect that pen & ink and get to work! A nice Prize is in store for the winner!
