Andrew Baird
fallen in Spring Crown Tourney, A.S. XLII
What Best to Take Afield?
(Acrostic)
His Helm aglint in the bright sun light,
Andrew Baird doth stand him tall,
Answering his Kingdoms‘s call,
Come to try for the crown outright.
Observe him as he salutes the crown,
Next the King there stands Baird’s bride,
Watching him with Royal pride,
“For the Queen” doth begin each round.
Nearby doth Matlens Litovka stand,
She for whom he fights this day,
Stately mien she doth display,
All his hopes are at her command.
One other looks on devotedly,
Edric Khan who calls him squire,
For whose throne doth Baird aspire,
— Jarl Francisc hath just ta’en round three.
Unto this field come the best of men,
Valiantly Baird fights him on,
Courage hath, but hope is gone,
All that’s Left is to fall to Sven.
Respect of peers is what makes a Knight;
Though he hath not won the wreath,
Worthiness can still bequeath —
Baird has earned his own Belt of White.
