Embroidery is the art of decorating fabric with thread. It includes:

  • Blackwork (monochrome designs on white background)
  • Couching (using a thread to attach a decorative cord or metal thread to a ground fabric)
  • Needlelace
  • Needlepoint
  • Opus Anglicanum
  • Whitework (cutwork, white on white, drawn thread work)
