The winds that wash the waves below

Sechequr Qara
fallen in Spring Crown Tourney, A.S. XLII

The winds that wash the waves below
Gust through the grasses gold as the gleam
Sparkling on your sentry’s brow
Rippling walls of our tent’s willing dream.

Blessed be the blade brought to thy service;
Follows the yale, fought for your yearning.
Healing your heart without thought for his own,
After our war from night to day’s turning.

Together we stand, facing our foes:
Star, shaming sun, shining through seeds;
Moon-silvered stag, bearing the bonds
Of battles and blood lost and dark golden deeds.

I vow to the victor, hand him my horse;
“Your man I must be!” He shakes his head.
“A son of the steppes, cripple his course?
Ride free to Fate when the leaves turn!”
