Hastilude Royale
Sir Rhys Ravenscroft
fallen in Spring Crown Tourney, A.S. XLII
Hastilude Royale
~ Prelude
Sir Rhys rode in on his Destrier,
A great black beast of war,
Vicondessa Montoya rode at his side,
Astride her Courser of roan,
They came to the field to win the Crown,
Their hope — to rule CAID.
~ Onset the First
The Knight he scribed his name to the list,
And entered the tilting yard,
Facing him first came Blaine de Navarre,
Him squired to Sir Kolfinna,
Sir Rhys he put his horse to the spur —
Aldgytha ran to Blaine’s aid.
~ Onset the Second
Edward Oakenheart couched his lance,
And spun his mighty steed,
Josceline stood by and cheered him on,
But paled when lances met,
The dust it cleared and a man was felled —
Sir Rhys had lost the pass.
~ Onset the Third
Sir Patrick came in on Charger of white,
Her Ladyship Kara waved,
With lions head gold cresting his helm,
Patrick laid Ravenscroft low —
Sir Rhys he lay bleeding on the field,
as the Widow Montoya wept.
