Aonarrach Faol MagUidhir
fallen in Spring Crown Tourney, A.S. XLII

(Conachlonn)

Out of the desert came Aonarrach
Aonarrach, Starkhafn marshal
Marshalling his force of will
Will to win a Crown
To crown his lady Fatimah queen
Queen of love and beauty of all Caid
Al-Caid, the winner will be called.
Called now to the field, O’Malley
O’Malley of the lion’s head
Heedless of danger, Aonarrach charges
Charged for battle
Battle engaged
Gauging his chances, he strikes
Stricken dumb, Aonarrach falls.
Falls and rises
Rises with Fatimah’s hopes
As hope eternal springs
This Spring Tourney
To the tourney field now comes Baird
Baird of the buzzing bee
All his being focused on this foe
To and fro the fighters go
Fighting for the Caidan throne
Thrown, his best blow; returned
Turn and strike
Strike sparks on steel
Steeled for the next blow
The blow that kills
Kills his dreams
Dreams of glory
The glory of all Caid.
Al-Caid, will not be Aonarrach
Aonarrach, out of the desert, returns
To return in the Fall
