Chess in brief

When I began researching for this article a few days ago, I had little idea there were so many variations and conflicting information out there about chess. There were an unlimited number of variations back in the days before modern standardization. This article as it appears right now is essentially a thumbnail sketch of period variations--hopefully someone or someones will improve it. I borrowed very heavily from Carol Hamill's excellent writings on early chess, but was very careful about not violating her copyright. If you want to learn more, check out her site (the link is in the article). Eldwin Nightowl 15:39, 11 December 2008 (PST)

I added some more info and redid some of the article, but it can definitely use some more work. Is that a request for volunteers? By the way, I just got a message from the SCA's Carol Hamill, who was graciously supportive. Eldwin Nightowl 17:58, 11 December 2008 (PST)
