fallen in Fall Crown Tourney, A.S. XLII
The Battles of Andrew Baird
Fair fighter, music-maker, sweet singer of reknown
Take up sword blade, ‘neath the dark glade, for Fairer Matlens now
Fight on man, sing strong man, dear Baird takes up arms anew
For when his fights are done tonight, you know honor will be true
The elder Celt steps onto the field, for Mercy to defend
When Grimlove’s wolf does now bear his teeth, to the field he does ascend
Guard well man, strike true man, Baird shirks not from the blow
But when the dust had cleared the air, Andrew Baird had been laid low
To the field he strides, with battle scars, to take on Randver next
Renewed in that sweet smile of hers, he takes up arms to best
Move swift man, hold well man, Baird takes the fight in hand
And the victory bough he brings to her, in glory now they stand
Once more he heads out to the field, for Dragon Knight to meet
Padraic has taken up his shield, with glove and helm complete
Hold strong man, take heart man, in honor he does yield
And sweet Matlens still lauds his honor high, as they leave the battlefield
