Laurel scroll for Neptha of Thebes, Illumination by Morgunn Ravenstone of Tantalon, Calligraphy by Flavia Beatrice Carmigniani, West Kingdom scroll

From Flavia Beatrice Carmigniani: "I did the lettering (and the research into the hieroglyphics) but Morgunn did the art.

The artwork, already painted on the scroll, was presented to Neptha when she was on the throne for a future scroll. When Neptha was made a Laurel, she asked me if I could letter an "Egyptian-style" scroll for her. Since I knew an Egyptologist with an extensive library, I said I would give it a try.

Using two major hieroglyphic dictionaries (which I'd love to own) I worked out more or less what the scroll should say. My simplistic wording was verified by a professor at UCLA who said that Egyptians would not really write "Unto all whom these presents yada yadayada..." though they might say when reading the scroll in court - if that ever happened.

He felt the lettering would basically say "This proves that Neptha is honored as a Laurel" or words to that effect.

Anyway, it was loads of fun to research and work out. I don't know if Morgunn ever saw the finished piece. We were not close (not unfriendly, just different groups) and I don't recall if Morgunn was present at the presentation."
