From the Crown Prints

The Caidan Open will be held on August 29 in the Canton of Gallavally the day after the St. Corrigan's Quest. The tournament will be held at Dartmouth Middle School. The site fee is $5.00 per entrant, spectators are free.

SCHEDULE OF THE DAY

  • 8:00 am Site opens/set up
  • 9:00 am Practice Starts
  • 10:00 am Opening Court
  • 10:30 am List Closing / Shooting Starts
  • 5:00 pm With luck, Finals then Closing Court
  • 6:00 pm Site closes/go home

The tournament will be double elimination in modified Royal Round. The round will consist of the following flights:

  • 3 arrows at 50 yards for ranging. Arrows are retrieved
  • 6 arrows at 40 yards for score. Line moves to next yardage
  • 6 arrows at 30 yards for score. All arrows scored and retrieved
  • 6 arrows at 20 yards for score. All arrows scored and retrieved
  • 30 second timed flight at 20 yards. All arrows scored and retrieved
  • Scores added and winners named

During the round there will be No gleaning of arrows that miss the target or stands/bales until the end of the round except before the speed round. To retrie3ve arrow (up to 12 in your quiver) the archer must get permission from the rangemaster. Therefore, each archer is encouraged to have 18 arrows or more. If you are short an arrow, it will be counted as a miss). Crossbow division has the same rules as the open division, plus this rule: Period crossbows are allowed period sighting devices and modern crossbows are not allowed any sights.

Please remember that this is a one on one double elimination tournament, so spectators are wholly encouraged.
