The holiday season is in full swing, and at this festive time of year if is good that we should gather with our friends and family to celebrate Yule! This year Lyondemere will be holding its Yuletide festivities in a new site that we know you will enjoy. Site: 245 W. Broadway (Old State Building), Long Beach, CA 90802 About the Site (VERY IMPORTANT): The site is the cafeteria in what was previously a state government building. There are no tables or chairs available at the site, and in order to avoid the cost of rentals we are asking everyone to: BRING THEIR OWN TABLES AND CHAIRS the site is WET! Wet sits are bevoming more and more difficult to find, so it is even more important that we be on our best behavior. As always, responsibility when consuming alcohol is required. If you plan to drink, please have a designated driver. The site allows candles! Yes, you can bring your candles and lamps.
Schedule for the Day:
- 3:00 pm Site Opens
- 12:00 am Site Closes
Site Fee: $12 for adults, $4 for children 9 - 14, children 8 years and under are free. Make checks payable to "SCA, Inc./Barony of Lyondemere"
Afternoon Activities:
- Dance Practice - your chance to brush up before the evening's dancing
- Games - brought to you by the good folks at the Crimson Spade
- Plague Rat - A Lyondemere tradition
- Refreshments - A variety of seasonal refreshments will be available during the afternoon
Evening Activities:
- Court - Our Baron and Baroness will hold a brief court to conduct baronial business
- the Feast - prepared by our own Argenteilin
- LyonSong - A music performance for all to enjoy after the feast
- Dancing - led by the Baronial Dance Mistress and Co.
The Feast: This year's feast will include all these tasty treats: Heb soup, glazed baby carrots, creamed turnips / Saracen Chicken, Roast of Beef / White rice & wild mushrooms, salad (Olive oil and balsamic vinegar at tables) / Bread & Butter, coffee & tea, water & lemonade
Contests Lyondemere Christmas Tree: His Excellency Baron Jamal has provided us with a beautiful little Christmas tree., only it needs decorating. Please bring a small ornament to donate to the tree. There will be popcorn and cranberries to string. At the end of the evening the tree will be raffled as a fund raiser for the Barony. Tree transportation service for the winner will be provided if needed.
Baron's Choice Dessert Contest: Bring your favorite dessert, enough to share with 6, and enter it in the Baron's Choice contest. The winner will be announced after the feast.
