Congratulations on wanting to help this wiki grow. These are the items we are working on.

Standard Issues

Fergal's Task List

  • Finish cleaning up table formatting for Results Caid Crown
  • Add Crown/Coronet Blurbs into yearly results
  • Add War Bands into the Households formatting
  • Add event names from current Caid calendar online onto proper Events page.

Lachlan's Task List

  • Find out about usability of the ROA.

Populace Pages

  • Add Caidans to the Populace pages. A full print out of the OP is found here: Help:Populace_Names. The format for the Populace page should follow Template talk:Populace
  • Keep an eye on the populace pages and make sure the registered name is the one being used on that page. Also to make sure there are no duplicate populace pages.
  • Image:Device_needed.jpg#filelinks - List of pages that use the holder image for devices. Need to get device.
  • Image:Photo_needed.jpg#filelinks - List of pages that use the holder image for devices. Need to get photo.

Any Volunteer's Task List

  • Monitor all new pages for grammar issues.
  • Someone who can open Page maker files, and help copy and paste, as well as format text for the Crown Poems section.
  • Go through the Royals and Baronage page and make sure the reign/tenure is listed on the individual's populace page. It should go under the "Offices & Positions" sub heading, and be formatted like the following from my page. *Queen of Caid, 06/03/2006-11/1/2006.

Discussion Items

Memories

  • Memories on a populace page. Allow person to put memories of themselves?

Tricky. Probably a good idea though. More likely to get responses. Perhaps an encouragement to tell how they found the SCA and what keeps them in it? GulliverBlackrune

I'm inclined to say no, don't put in memories of oneself. On the other hand, a page in the Articles / Miscellany section for specifically answering "How Did you find the SCA?" or "What is your favorite memory of an SCA person or event, in 500 words or less?" might do the same, and be fun to browse. --EowynA 13:22, 24 June 2008 (PDT)

What about the person (hypothetical Mary) putting in Mary's memories of someone else (hypothetical John) on Mary's page? --Valdis 23:14, 24 June 2008 (PDT)

Artwork for Eowyn

  • Need Devices for Territories
  • I have drawn devices for some, maybe all, territories in the same manner as the Lyondemere arms, that is, nearly full achievements (no supporters, though). I was going to put them in shortly, but since I don't have a working scanner, was going to photograph them. How did the Lyondemere one get colored? I have Photoshop and Illustrator. --EowynA 18:16, 23 June 2008 (PDT)
    • Eilidh uploaded the Lyondemere image, with color. It appears to be what they use on the official lyondemere site. I have a scanner if you'd like for me to scan them instead of photographing them. Up to you. --Kolfinna 18:20, 23 June 2008 (PDT)
      • I drew the Lyondemere image, too, but without color. I've sent her an e-mail asking how she colored it. I think once I've got the image in, I think I can save as gif, which is probably better for this than jpeg.--EowynA 18:27, 23 June 2008 (PDT)
        • Actually the best format to save it in would be PNG. It allows you to have transparency, and the wiki doesn't have any weird issues when you resize it on the fly. --Kolfinna 20:58, 23 June 2008 (PDT)
  • Did a colored version of Starkhafn this morning to get a "proof of concept" on process of: digital photograph => Photoshop => B&W => bitmap => PNG save => Illustrator => vector trace and fill => PNG save. Comments on simplification of that process from other digital artists welcome.

Three of the laurel leaves need fixing, so I didn't post it yet. It is flat color filled, not the cool multicolor that Iuliana did on the Kingdom arms, alas. But this first one should be up tonight. --EowynA 11:29, 25 June 2008 (PDT)

  • I'm very curious to see the finished Starkhafn arms. I'm relitively new to Illustrator (I actually did the Kingdom arms as a learning project). I havn't tried vector trace and fill, though I've been aware for a bit that it exists and I should learn it. Likely I will use my own arms as a learning project for that tool...--Lachlan 15:52, 25 June 2008 (PDT)

  • Isn't the ROA basically done with Victorian art bits? Where available, I know I greatly prefer Lachlan's artwork, Bruce's artwork, my own, and anyone else's who does their own drawings in preference to the often fussy Victiorian versions, if the option is available. Not to say that it isn't wonderful to have the option, just expressing an opinion. Has anyone asked Bruce if we may use his drawings (from the various Peer pages) here? I looked in the Help:Media, but didn't see anything about drawings, only photos. --EowynA 11:35, 25 June 2008 (PDT)
    • I have asked Bruce in the past and he has given permission. I will get permission explicitly for the Caid Wiki. Thanks for the reminder. --Kolfinna 11:53, 25 June 2008 (PDT)
    • Thanks for the vote of confidence. ROA uses both clip art (read: Victorian heraldic art) and scans from PicDic.--Lachlan 15:52, 25 June 2008 (PDT)
