Wiki Editor
Greetings. This is a blanket note being sent to all the Editors of the CaidWiki. It has been approximately a year since most of you have held this position. The editor position on the wiki requires a bit more responsibility than the regular user, as you are a go to resource for people needing help and are a reviewer for the areas allocated to you (as shown on the Help:Team). If you'd like to remain as an editor for another year, please reply to this message. If you'd like to become a regular user (no responsibility, but still have the ability to edit anything any time), please reply to this message. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Thanks! --Kolfinna 11:24, 7 August 2009 (PDT)

Natalya - do you remember the canton of Naess?  was it in Orange County? I keep thinking it was, but my notes don't say --EowynA 00:40, 6 May 2008 (PDT)

Oh god. Do I remember Naess. Reams of hand-written letters in turquoise ink from Lady Faye of Ye Farther Glenne. Yep it was in the Fullerton area. The people who really remember are Gabrielle, Bevin and Conrad, and I have active email addresses for all three. Aeolwigg, who is active in Angels now, also remembers very clearly, I'm sure.
Editors
A year ago Kolfinna sent a yearly post to all of the editors asking if they would like to continue in their roles as editors, saying that "The editor position on the wiki requires a bit more responsibility than the regular user". I am continuing that tradition and am asking those in the Editor List if they wish to continue in that role, or begin working in that capacity (there are a couple of you on the Editor list who are not on the Editor staff). Anyone currently in the Editor member list but are not on the Help:Team team may become a member of the Editor Team, just let me know you would like to work in that capacity. Also let me know if you would like to become a member of the Commenter group, you will still be able to edit pages on the wiki as a commenter you just will not have the responsibilities of an Editor.
For those who wish to remain as wiki Editors:

Update as of 10:34am EDT, Bevin referred us to Ximena & Arabella, and I can contact Arabella via Robear & Kristin but I'm guessing Gabrielle remembers Naess <g> -- Natalya
1. Please send me your email address - either add it to your preferences (where it will remain private), or send to me at [mailto:wiki@caid-commons.org wiki@caid-commons.org].

Thanks!  I just wanted confirmation that it existed in the area now covered by Gyldenholt. (and I got turquoise inked letters on the BoD from Lady Faye, too).--EowynA 07:42, 6 May 2008 (PDT)
2. Add a note to your User Talk page (in response to this message) that you would like to continue or begin working as an editor or become a commenter.

*Natalya, the names used for populace members must be the registered ones listed in the OP (or the SCA OandA). I have reverted Bevin's spelling to her registered name. I added an intro line of "Bevin prefers the spelling of Bevin Fraser of Stirling." I appreciate that many people like variations of their name, but we are going by a hard line of registered name. if they prefer a variation it needs to be put into the bio, not the page name. --Kottr 10:51, 14 May 2008 (PDT)
3. Let me know if you believe your work with the wiki encompasses more that the area(s) you are currently allocated and let me know what areas you feel you can monitor/survey. Check the Help:Team page for the current list of Editors and the areas allocated to everyone. --Valdis 02:16, 25 August 2010 (PDT)

*Also the function you were trying to do is called a redirect. Basically to get a name of the page to redirect to another page you type #REDIRECT bracket bracket name of new page bracket bracket. I had to put it in text because it wanted to redirect the page.--Kottr 10:55, 14 May 2008 (PDT)
Great Sword of state
I noticed your addition of a page about Great Sword of State. I know of a couple of photos of (what I think is) the sword in use at Coronations. See Thin Robert of Lawrence and Ian MacAlister of Lancaster.--Lachlan 19:37, 26 January 2013 (PST)

Sigh... I will ask Bevin to send yet ANOTHER letter to the CoH about her name. It's "Stirling" as in "Stirling" Castle. Has been since oh gosh let's see ... well long before any of us. <grin> I wasn't sure what you guys were using for redirect, so thanks for that. --Natalya
Thank you - I added a link to the photo with Master Thin Robert, but I need to check with Baron Conrad von Regensburg or Countess Bevin about the sword used at Thomas & Elaine's investiture.

*Image Uploads now work thanks to the wonderful Lorenz. To upload an image go here. Please read our policy in regards to all media here. This is the last technical hurdle, please take a quick look at the site, since we are shortly going to release it to the public. Thanks! --Kolfinna 13:42, 28 May 2008 (PDT)
The confusion is that the photo with Thomas and Elaine is actually the investiture of Gregory and Vivian, which occurred after the War at Lake Havasu. See http://wiki.caid-commons.org/index.php/Great_Sword_of_State and http://wiki.caid-commons.org/index.php/War_vs._Atenveldt - Natalya

Corrections
Much coolness! Thanks for the additional details. --Lachlan 21:54, 25 November 2013 (PST)
*Only put the relevant parts of the populace template pages. If you don't have information, don't include the blank subheading.
*Don't link to people's pages outside their populace page. For example, on the Early Days of Caid: The Kingdom page you have a link to Patrice d'Cilla and also an outside page  of . The West Kingdom page should be linked from her populace page. That way if the link changes, we only need to update it in one spot.
*In the populace template, don't link to a photo. Upload one using the Special:Upload page.
*You need to use the person's registered name as the page name. If the person prefers another name, put it in the bio section. Please start referencing the OP more.
Thanks for all your contributions! --Kolfinna 23:17, 19 June 2008 (PDT)

*I put the entire template because I figured that there would be someone who has that information and it might elicit some new info (esp. about events and publications) that we didn't know about.
Users can no longer create accounts. This process can only be completed through the Administrative Staff. Go to Help:New Users for instructions! --Valdis 12:04, 23 November 2013 (PST)
*I linked to Patrice d'Cilla because she lives in Caid (and is former seneschal of Dreiburgen). Although Andrew is in the Caidan OP, he doesn't live down here anymore so I didn't include a listing for him.
*Ahhh upload a picture. Doh. /bonking myself
*Thanks for the head's up on the names - one good thing is that if someone sees that their name isn't right, they can take steps to get the new name registered, assuming they can survive the gauntlet of the CoH's current rigid standards.
Thanks for your patience! -- Natalya 11:45, 20 June 2008 (EDT)

Update to Template
Editors - If you no longer wish to be an active editor, please contact me via email at [mailto:wiki@caid-commons.org wiki@caid-commons.org] to let me know. The only difference would be that you would no longer be listed on the Editor staff, and would no longer be expected to assume the responsibilities of an editor. You would still be able to edit pages on the Wiki. Thank you for all you have contributed to the Caid Wiki! --Valdis 12:04, 23 November 2013 (PST)
Thanks to User:Iulianna we now have default holder pictures for the populace pages. == Orphan list ==
I love the new template but would suggest that the Sanction part and Deceased part NOT be copied over as default. The Sanction only affects a mere handful of Caidans and is one of those red flags that could lead to all sorts of nastygrams. The deceased section reminds me... are we including an In Memoriam page on the wiki?

None of the subheaders should be copied over unless there is information to populate it. Only the template code at the top should be copied at all times.  Memoriam I think is what you are looking for. --Kolfinna 10:43, 21 June 2008 (PDT)
I can't believe that Main Page is on the Orphaned Pages list! Haha!--Lachlan 22:22, 20 January 2015 (PST)

I was also thinking that the wiki would be a GREAT place for the College of Scribes to get the word out -- link to the Scroll compendium and maybe list peeps that Scribes are looking for or who have scrolls to be picked up? --
You know how those heralds are! So picky with names!! ;)--Natalya 5:04, 21 January 2015 (PST)
Natalya 13:36, 21 June 2008 (EDT)

The scroll compendium is already linked to Scribal Arts & College of Scribes. The rest would be up to the Scribe Amarius. You can always suggest it to her. --Kolfinna 10:43, 21 June 2008 (PDT)
On the plus side, I've gone through a lot of our orphan list and am not finding that the reason persona pages are orphaned was because they became "lost" from the OP. The main reason we have so many orphan pages is because our list of Caidans is more comprehensive than the OP can be -- and that's a good thing!--Lachlan 09:06, 21 January 2015 (PST)

Update to Fix Page
Help:Fix is where I am storing all the things to do and what needs to be focused on. We all have our own pet projects, but if you could also keep an eye on this page, that would be helpful. I also have discussion items that I need your feedback on Help:Fix#Discussion_Items. Thanks! --Kolfinna 09:30, 23 June 2008 (PDT)

Update to Populace pages
*Moved all the fix it notes to here Help:Fix#Populace_Pages.
*The most important addition is the Help:Populace_Names which is a direct feed from the OP, so should have the proper spelling for the majority of Caidans. Thanks! --Kolfinna 11:10, 25 June 2008 (PDT)

Commentary Wanted
*See Help:Fix#Ideas --Kolfinna 13:27, 24 July 2008 (PDT)
*We are experimenting with a new method of displaying templates in a method which might be easier for people to use. Looking for commentary. See Template talk:Coronet for the proposed style.--Lachlan 09:59, 11 March 2009 (PDT)

Change to how User Groups Work
Great news! The Kingdom Webwright has given us a 3 month window to test to see how it would work if all users had edit abilities. So all users have been added to the "Commenters" group which allows you to edit live pages and upload photos. Jump right in and start adding new pages and editing old ones! If you need help on how to edit the wiki, visit Help:Contents. If I don't know who you are (i.e. I need to match your SCA name to your wiki account) you will not be added to the commenters group. This is rare, only a few of you I haven't been able to place. Email me at wiki@caid-commons.org if you need further help. --Kolfinna 13:42, 20 August 2008 (PDT)

New Wiki Admin
Since I'm now Crown Princess, I will be turning over the admin reigns to THL Lachlan User_Talk:Lachlan. Please work with him from here on out. Thanks Lachlan! --Kolfinna 18:00, 24 August 2008 (PDT)

Wiki Editor

1. Please send me your email address - either add it to your preferences (where it will remain private), or send to me at wiki@caid-commons.org.

2. Add a note to your User Talk page (in response to this message) that you would like to continue or begin working as an editor or become a commenter.
