*Replying back: Hi Dubghall! The Contents box appears as more sections are entered on the page (sections are the headers that have two equal signs before and after the heading topic such as the way I have Contents Box entered for this particular section.) I believe there has to be a minimum of 4 such headings before the Contents Box appears (if anyone else has further info or can correct me please do so!). --[[User:Valdis isbrandsdottir|Valdis]] 13:10, 19 April 2011 (PDT)

*It does appear automatically after 4 headers are added to the page. This link shows help on formating that includes info on headers and content box: [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Formatting Formating Help page]. • I've activated your account by placing it within the "commenters" group. You should now be able to edit pages on this wiki. Please visit Help:Rules and Help:Contents for site rules and editing assistance prior to posting. If you would like to submit images for use on the Wiki, please always provide in each image's description the name of the photographer or artist. Welcome to the Caid Wiki!--Lachlan 21:05, 16 May 2010 (PDT)

Roll of Arms images

  • I'm glad you asked! Yes, the images from the Caid Roll of Arms may be used here on the wiki. For more on that subject, see Help:Media. Typically, the artist/photographer should be noted on the image's own page. For example, see File:Emma Rose Cuffe Device.gif. Unfortunately, while the Roll of Arms artist should be credited here, this is not commonly done.--Lachlan 10:38, 25 May 2010 (PDT)
  • Hey! Thank you for adding those devices. It is indeed better to have colorful pics rather than "Heraldry Needed"... And thank you for giving credit to the artists. I started going through and fixing RoA images already on-site.--Lachlan 22:08, 25 May 2010 (PDT)
  • Sorry, I don't know who is currently doing it. The person who did it when I was Crescent moved out of kingdom. You could ask Mistress Su... herald at sca-caid dot org. Aside: For an easy way to sign comments, you can click the button above the edit box that has a squigly line like a signature.--Lachlan 19:38, 6 June 2010 (PDT)

Specific Pages/Roll of Arms Images

  • Ghislane Ghislaine d'Auxerre submitted an image for her Device, we are waiting for a Creative Works Release Form for that image though I offered the image from the Roll of Arms in it's place until she can obtain the Release. She hasn't responded yet. Thank you for your diligence! --Valdis 16:53, 13 April 2011 (PDT)

Redirecting Pages

  • Once you verify the correct name/spelling of a populace page, you can redirect the old page to the new page by using the command with a link to the new page,

it should appear as #REDIRECT Gerhard von Regensburg

(click the edit area for this page to see the full command in this area, use what is inside the quotation marks, do not include the quotation marks)

Put that code on the old page (for instance it would go on the page for Gerhard of Nordvald, but make sure information from the old page is copied and pasted onto the new page before deleting the information from the old page. The only thing remaining on the old page should be the redirect command and link to the new page. I'll let you do this last one so you can see how it's done.

Also, make sure that on the new page you list the previous name in the bio part of the new page, so please add the name Gerhard of Nordvald to his new page. --Valdis 23:15, 13 April 2011 (PDT)

    • Good job on the redirect! Make sure you add his previous name to the new page.. for instance, in the section just below the template code (the bio section) you can add the following...

Gerhard von Regensburg‎, previously known as Gerhard of Nordvald. (or also known as etc...) --Valdis 23:32, 13 April 2011 (PDT)

Signatures

  • Please make sure you use the signature tag whenever you post messages on discussion pages/user talk pages. The Signature button is the 2nd icon button from the right on the menu above the edit box. --Valdis 23:15, 13 April 2011 (PDT)

Names

  • Refer to Help:Rules. We use names as registered with the College of Arms of the Society and if not found we go by names used in the Order of Precedence. After that we do our best to use the preferred spelling for Caidans without registered/OP names. --Valdis 10:42, 18 April 2011 (PDT)
  • That's a great idea (gathering names for contacting later and for record keeping) but I think you would benefit more by compiling the list of names and putting them on your own User Talk pages rather than making notes on the populace member's pages. Having the names and status of each person together in one list should make it easier to keep up with, and doesn't confuse the populace when they check their User Talk pages. They'll come along and see the note and think it's an official note rather than someone just keeping a record. --Valdis 11:01, 18 April 2011 (PDT)
    • Replying back... That sounds fine, just didn't know the details of what you were doing, now that I do I don't see a problem with how you are proceeding. Good job! --Valdis 11:21, 18 April 2011 (PDT)

Stubs

  • If you come across populace pages with information (such as offices & positions etc), please remove the stub tag. Thank you for all your work! --Valdis 10:52, 18 April 2011 (PDT)

Associations

  • On the Template_talk:Populace page there is a heading for Associates. Instead of putting info under another heading such as Miscellany, we put affiliations/household information under Associates. For example: Make a list that includes Member/status in their households, or if they are squired or apprenticed etc... --Valdis 12:24, 18 April 2011 (PDT)

Pages without registered names and/or armory, or pages without heraldic display

Pages without registrations:

Pages without display:

  • William the True: There is an entry in the O and A for a "William the True" registered through Atlantia in 1999. More information is needed to ascertain whether this is the same William the True.
  • Ewe Notte Mée: This name and its associated device are registered, but the device does not appear on the Kingdom Roll of Arms. I will create the device image and submit it through media submission later this week. - Done.
  • Wolferam Zenthffeer:This name and its associated device are registered, but no image appears on the Kingdom Roll of Arms. I will create the image and upload it through the media form later this week. - Done.
  • Ian the Red: This name and its associated device are in process but not yet registered.

William the True

  • If the person you are looking for is the Caid bard called True, his registered name is Thomas Whitehart. --Valdis 02:21, 19 April 2011 (PDT)
