Talk:Order Robes and Peerage Cloaks

Interesting, I had not realized the Pelicans never officially adopted the robe. I have been working on a cloak for a few years now with the intention of making a Caid peerage robe but for my knighthood/royal peer with the vague understanding that the blue robes were "peerage" robes. Now that I think of it, the official pelican ceremony has the robe as a part of it, wouldn't that make it official? Awesome article as always Eowyn. --Kolfinna 14:08, 26 August 2009 (PDT)

The official Pelican ceremony has borrowed the Laurel wording, for those who want to use it. I think it would be awesome to see an Order Robe with all the Orders to which you belong upon it, with the badges in the left front (white belt, rose wreath, and pelican), and the rest of the cloak plain blue. BTW, I added the article due to a current discussion on the Pelican list.--EowynA 14:32, 26 August 2009 (PDT)

What I had designed was a blue half round cloak with a wreath of roses around the bottom hem (since technically the royal peerage is the peerage, and the rose just an 'honor'). Then on the breast I had a white belt with a coronet sitting on top of it. Initially I was going to put that on the right side... and with the recent offer I was going to add the Pelican on the left side to balance it out. Hmm... Looks like I may have to rethink that... or just go with what I have now, and fix it afterward Highland. Always, thanks for all the interesting ideas, you rock! --Kolfinna 14:40, 26 August 2009 (PDT)

Sounds cool. I believe it is the "Order of the Rose", and thus the wreath is the order symbol - and I believe that entry into that order carries a patent of arms all by itself (in some kingdoms, by rebuttable presumption). It is the item indicating rank (coronet) that is not like the others. On the other hand, the Robes of the Order of the Golden Fleece had the stone and furison as a border around the edge, in much the same manner as the roses you contemplate using that way. --EowynA 14:58, 26 August 2009 (PDT)

  • This was discussed durring the Kingdom law revision during Sven and Kolfinna's first reign. We determined that the royal peerage was separite but simultaneous with entry into the Order of the Rose. After all, the King is not admitted to the Order of the Rose, but still is made a royal peer.--Lachlan 12:17, 27 August 2009 (PDT)

Heh, I'm definitely will need a redesign after Highland :) --Kolfinna 15:20, 26 August 2009 (PDT)

Capitalization

I think that terms such as "order robe" should not be capitalized. The term itself is not a proper noun. But I do not feel strongly enough to march on out and edit the page myself. Thoughts?--Lachlan 12:17, 27 August 2009 (PDT)

  • Addendum: I don't find the capitalization to be a problem in the article's headings, only in article text.--Lachlan 12:26, 27 August 2009 (PDT)

I agree, I'm probably over-capitalizing. It's the German in me, I guess. I'll fix it later, or you can fix it now, either way. --EowynA 12:36, 27 August 2009 (PDT)
