A "court event" is an event where the primary activity is royal court, though other activities are often included, particularly Feast and Revel. Court events are usually held indoors at an auditorium, banquet hall or other suitable location. They are run by a Court herald. Courts are also held at field events where there is generally an Opening Court which welcomes those gathered, and a Closing Court at the end where the results of the day's activities are proclaimed.

A court is an official and formal gathering of the populace which is presided over by ceremonial heads (The Crown or Their representatives), such as a king and queen, prince and princess, baron and baroness or their designated Regent. Giving of Awards, changes in kingdom law and changes of ceremonial heads are (in general) not official unless accomplished in court.
