4th of July Prize Demo in Steinsee

The Canton of Steinsee, in cooperation with 29th Palms Rotary, is putting on a demonstration of the current middle ages for the 29th Palms 4th of July Celebration. We ask that everyone who can to come and share a day of fun and merriment with us.

Who: Everyone who can come. We need fighters, dancers, musicians, bards: everyone in Caid has something to give. Merchants are most welcome at the cost of $10.00 apiece. Please contact the autocrat for more information and to RSVP.

What: A demonstration of these current middle ages to the people of the high desert. We plan a double elimination heavy weapons tourney, a rapier list, and various contests that we will probably be thinking up on the spot! Static displays and demonstrations are highly encouraged and very welcome!

When: July 4, 1993

  • 0800: Local Set Up
  • 1000: Begin Festivities
  • 1700: Close of Demo
  • 2100: Fireworks!!
  • 2200: Revel!!!

Where: At Lucky Park, 74362 Joe Davis Dr. in the City of Twentynine Palms, CA. This is a Large park with plenty of grass and shade trees where we will be set up. There are plenty of restrooms and a Big Swimming Pool to beat the heat with (sorry, no period swimming please!!) The daytime temperatures will be in the 100s, cooling off towards dusk, so be prepared. We will have ample space for personal pavilions, banners, etc. so please bring anything to add flavor to the day. There will be food and drink merchants on site and stores and restaurants within 2 miles of the park.

Miscellany: Site fee is $2.00 for the day.

Revel: All and sundry are invited at the close of the day to join with Steinsee in a revel until all hours of the morning at the home of the Seneschal, Lady Elana Blakefenn (and her tolerant and foolish house-mate, Galen Robert Kavanaugh). Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. Bring your own snacks, alcohol (being private property, it is a Wet site!), and designated driver. Or plan on staying over (We're not kidding). Directions to the revel will be available at the demo.
