From Albra Katerine Marie Isabelle Bautiste

How very very sad and tragic:( My heart goes out to his family.

Yes, he will be sorely missed --- he was mine and Edric I's 'Baby Knight' --- and a wonderful person.

He was also my Queen's Champion --- I recall him gifting me with a beautiful silver and onyx necklace and earring set during that time. When Edric and I stepped down---and they made him ransome his helm back I made him take the money out of my cleavage with his teeth:) (blush)

From Aoibheall an Sionnach

Some folks at the recent Festival of the Rose may have heard me perform "Crown Around His Heart" for Queen Thaleia and Princess Mora. This song was inspired by TRMs Rorik and Karina, and was first performed at Coronation when they stepped down.

One verse seems appropriate now: "He watches all the consorts, bright as falcons in the air, And the fighters making ready for the test. Give him all the sweat and pain, he would do it all again But he knows the time has come to let it rest. It wasn't all that long ago, upon a distant plain, We watched him go to battle, a kingly crown to gain, And the crown that he now bears is just a part Of the crown that she first set about his heart."

Go with the gods, Rorik. You were an inspiration to many of us.

From William Schuyler

Like most of us, I'm thinking about Rorik today and wanted to tell a couple of stories. For several years, Rorik worked at Schuyler House as a field tech and as operations manager.

One time he was in the field and a customer offered him $5000 to let him copy the 'key' disk which would authorize additional stations (without payment). Rorik, of course, refused and when he came back to the office told us the story. Eichling and I were not surprised, but it made us feel good and we gave him a $50 bonus and told him to go out somewhere nice for dinner. He happily drove away and about half a block later his brake lights came on, he turned around and came back. He held out the money and said "I can't take a bonus for being honest".

Another time, we had an installation in New Orleans that was not going well.

The first team had found the lab wasn't ready and had to come home, wasting their time and the travel expenses. After we had been assured that this time the cabinets were installed and the computers on them and operational we sent the next team, led by Rorik. He called me from the site saying that the cabinets were not finished yet and the computers were still in their boxes. He asked me what he should do. I told him "It's time they meet the King of Caid." Rorik was quiet for a moment and then said "Right". The computers were in their places and working by the end of the day.
