Memories

From Lachlan of Cromarty

  • Another windy day for QCE. It's becoming a tradition! Equestrian Event Steward Virginia Read set up an "evil" course that the riders could walk through on foot, but the horses ran through without seeing the course. Especially difficult was an L-shaped course that the rider needed to guide the horse into, then exit backwards. Also was "Sarecen Heads" (though the wind blew the heads over, so the riders simply waved their swords where the heads should have been), tilting at rings, striking at reeds, passing a baton through a hoop, killing the chicken and pig sticking. The finalists ran a novel course including a low jump and retrieving a banner which whipped in the wind. Though advertised and field setup, I don't think there was much armored or rapier combat.
