Lord Leodamas of Thebes was a founding member of the Barony of [[Calafia]], which was then still a territory of the Kingdom of the [[West]]).  He was  known to be a peacemaker at a time when the SCA was still going through some growing pains.

It is far more common to find the name spelled "Leodam<u>u</u>s".Leodamas passed away in August of 1972 while assisting someone after an event.
In the early days of the Barony of Calafia, the labor and love of her people formed this land. One especially among us helped the Barony to grow, by preserving the peace and fellowship of their Excellencies’ subjects. He was Leodamas of Thebes, a man who was a peacemaker as well as an organizer and worker. He is sorely missed by all who knew him, and the Barony fondly remembers him as one of her greatest sons. Leodamas promoted harmony where there was discord and soothed troubled brows. He was an example to all. To honor and commemorate him, their Excellencies, Talanque and Rowen Lynn, founding Baron and Baroness of Calafia, established the Order of Leodamas.

He was in his 80s when I met him. He was a handsome man who stood about 6 feet, slender but fairly fit looking for his age. He was fair skinned, with snow-white hair that may have been dark when younger. His eyes were a brilliant sky blue. His manner was always courtly, even around vexing persons (and there were a few). He had a sweet smile and he was more inclined to laugh.  He could be described as of noble mien and to the manor born. Soft spoken, I never heard him raise his voice.  He almost always wore a white chiton and a short blue cloak.  He would also wear a gold cord on his head which was knotted on the right.  I am absolutely certain that Armand was the first recipient of the Order of Leodamas.
