The Kingdom Armored Combat Marshal office was formed on 8/31/2008 when the Armored Combat Handbook version 7 was released. The separation was designed to ease the time demands on the Earl Marshal. This office oversees all Armored Combat issues (such as running events, authorizations, the armored combat handbook, etc), whereas the Earl Marshal office is now more of an administrative position that oversees all Marshal forms (rapier, equestrian, etc).
