Event description: Although Our Beautiful Queen Cassandra is young in years, She has been going to SCA events Her entire life; therefore, in conjunction with the Olde-Tymers Tourney, Her Festival of the Rose will feature many memories from years past! That’s right, there will be a return of such traditional games as “Bowling for Peers” and “The Assassin Game!” If you don’t know what they are… you are too darn young!!!! (…Don’t worry, explanations will be provided.) As is normal for a Festival of the Rose, a performance space and viewing area will be available for artisans and performers from throughout the Knowne Worlde to celebrate the glory that is Our Queen. In addition, Her Majesty, Herself a devotee and skilled practitioner of the arts, will choose one person to represent Her as “Queen’s Champion for A&S!” This contest is open to all, and is not ‘themed’. So come honor Our Queen with a day of fun, arts, and memories!!! In addition, we are happy to announce the return of the Olde-Tymers Tourney! (Please note the name change back from ‘Days of Principality Tourney’) This event is a celebration for the old timers, new members, and everyone in between of the equipment, traditions, and stories from the Society’s early years. Bring your personal recollections to share, as well as any artifacts and photos you may have for the memorabilia tables. This is the time to dig out your carpet armour, Freon helms, plastic recorders, and polyester t-tunics. The fighting will begin with a Young vs. Olde ‘Grand Melee’. You are considered Olde if you started playing in the SCA before 1981 (which is Her Majesty’s birthday, when She began playing!) The tourney following will be standard double-elimination; and there will be a prize awarded for ‘Best Death’. Please note that there are no trees and no easily accessible fountains, so bring shade and /or water if you can, though Altavia will be providing some of bot h. Both events will be at the same site, sharing indoor and outdoor locations.

Site fee(s): $5.00 for members (w/proof of membership); $3 for children 4-12; Children 3 and under are free. A $5.00 non-member surcharge will apply for non-members over the age of 12.
