The Royal Army of Caid is the Caidan Army in service to our Monarchs.

The earliest appearence of a Caidan army was in A.S. IX, April 26, 1975; at the First Caid Rebellion. In those early days the Army had no structure, no real name (other than "the army"), and just one very inexperienced warband, the Brotherhood of the Blade.
At that time Caid was a recently formed Principality of the West Kingdom. Under its second Prince, Hugh the Undecided, Caid fought this war (called a rebellion, though all was in good fun) in Bakersfield, CA; against its parent Kingdom. The King of the West was Paul of Bellatrix.
According to Western sources, the numbers slightly favored Caid; while experience and skill was all on the side of the West. Numbers are given as just around 40 for Caid; and around 30 for the West. Caidan sources claim around 35 for Caid, and 30 for the West.
This First Caid Rebellion was a one-day affair, comprised of three battles: an Open Field Battle, Castle Battle, and a final Bridge Battle.
The Caidan Army aquitted itself well, using small-team tactics that for a time compensated for the West's superior quality (Caid had only one knight, Sir Hugh; while the West had King Paul, then the undisputed finest fighter in the world, several other Dukes, and a handful of very experienced belted knights). The West won the Open Field battle; lost the Castle; and finally won the day (2 victories to Caid's 1) on the Bridge. This last was a "very close run thing"; with only Sir William the Lucky, the Western banner-bearer, surviving to cross the bridge to the Caidan side and claim the victory!
The lessons learned at the First Rebellion
Rapier Community
On 1/10/2009, the Royal Army of Caid under the leadership of General Augustine von Freiburg and with the approval of Sven II and Kolfinna II officially inducted the Caidan Rapier community into the army.
