A lone man stands

Lord Shawn de Wynter
fallen in Fall Crown Tourney A.S. XLIII

A lone man stands, battle tested, heart still beating
Gazing o’er the sun-touched desert, morning heating
See the distant call to glory, Graces calling
Steady now he’s miles to go e’re night is falling

Crescent pendant, crescent crown, and crescent seeking
While long miles traveled, poems penned, and lyric speaking
For own sword wielded, her sword shielded, great arms now fielded
The fighter takes up sword and shield, once more is needed

A great bull guarding stags attiring, a Count of glory
Takes his first blood, yet leaves him standing, still in the story
When horses challenge for swords of two he cleaves anew
And wins once more the heralds’ call and crown pursue

Grand phoenix rising, two greatswords prizing, comes to the field
Though same support, great lady consort, to this blow must yield
Wins to face the wolf’s head pace, and still battle more
The swordsman earns another verse from troubadour

Defends the dragon, eagle striking, tall cedar spreading
The swordsman falling, Graces calling, final blood then shedding
To strong keep retiring, wounds now binding, strength returning
Bard and swordsman, remembered now well in his sojourning

A lone man stands, battle tested, heart still beating
Gazing o’er the sun-touched desert, morning heating
See the distant call to glory, Graces calling
Steady now he’s miles to go e’re night is falling
